CATE, HOWARD FRED, 76
CATE, HOWARD FRED, 76, of Hardwick, died January 13 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. He was born July 5, 1933, in Manchester, N.H., the son of the late Howard B. and Mildred (Burbank) Cate. He attended Webster and central Manchester public schools. He served in the U.S. Army from July 1954 to May 1956, when he was honorably discharged. He first married Edith Hardy Cate, who died in 1991. On July 4, 2000, he married Sharon Lee Fisk Ward in Raymond, N.H. Mr. Cate was employed in the concrete and landscaping business for many years. He was a professional beagle handler and trainer, an avid fisherman and hunter. Survivors include his wife, Sharon, of Hardwick; two sons, Robert Cate of Epsom, N.H., and Brian Cate of New Hampshire; three stepchildren, Laurie Ann Mason of Albany, Beverly O'Neill of Hardwick, and Clifton Bisson-Ward of Walden; a sister, Shirley Cate of New Hampshire; grandchildren, five step-grandchildren four step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
