A Thank You and A Challenge

(by Paul Flint, Barre - August 13, 2008)

The Barre Homecoming Pasta Supper served about 300 steaming plates of spaghetti topped with a delicious mostaccioli meat sauce, this was one complete dinner served every 15 seconds for the 80 minutes we served.
All of the proceeds from this activity will be immediately applied to the Spoke-EZ community bicycle center project. Thus, the $1,430 made at the Barre Homecoming Pasta Supper will return to the community as a place where you can get your bicycle serviced, get a part, get some air for your tires, a helmet, a lock, bicycle registration and even bicycle safety courses. These funds did not come easily, the community supplied them.
We would like to profusely thank the many businesses and volunteers that made the supper such a success. The community spirit demonstrated by these organizations and individuals is exceptional, and whole-heartedly appreciated.
At the Saturday evening Barre Homecoming Pasta Supper, I challenged community to step up and accept the Barre Homecoming Mostaccioli Challenge. This year we were fortunate to revive the tradition of the savory and tasty meat sauce that is a renowned feature of Barre culture and cusine. Our Mostaccioli Mama is keen to anyone who is willing to consider their interpretation of this traditional dish. If you know of anyone up to the task of challenging her excellence in Mostaccioli please do not hesitate to contact me (flint@flint.com). Let the best Mostaccioli win!
