ADAMS, G. LESTER


ADAMS, G. LESTER, of Spring Hill, Fla., died June 18 at Hospice Care Center in Brooksville, Fla. Born in South Barre, Feb. 8, 1915, the son of Charles and Hattie Adams, he lived in East Barre and Montpelier and moved to Spring Hill in 1978 with his late wife, the former Dorothy Flint whom he married April 20, 1939. After graduating from Spaulding High School in 1933, he was employed by the National Life Insurance Company until 1937 when he joined the State of Vermont Unemployment Compensation Commission as supervisor of the Addressograph Section, a position he held 28 years. In 1965, he joined the State of Vermont Department of Public Safety where he held several positions until retiring in 1976. He was a Vermont State Guard technical sergeant for the duration of WWII. He was a member of Mariner United Methodist Church, Spring Hill, and was a treasurer of the East Barre Library Association and the Congregational Church and moderator for the East Barre Fire District. He was past president of the Vermont Chapter of the International Assoc. of Personnel in employment security and a member of Masonic Aurora Lodge #22, Montpelier. He is survived by his son Donald of Sanibel Island, Fla., his brother Clarence of Barre and several nieces.
