SCHEINDEL, PATRICIA PALMER, 76


SCHEINDEL, PATRICIA PALMER, 76, of Randolph Center, passed away at Fletcher Allen Health Care after a brief illness. Born in Orange, N.J., Patricia was the daughter of George Hulbert Palmer and Ruth Crear Whitney. She graduated from Columbia High School in Maplewood, N.J., and went on to receive her B.A. from Middlebury College and her master's from Northwestern. She worked as a professor at Centenary College in Hackettstown, N.J. Prior to earning her master's degree she worked as a social worker. In 1961, she married Christian (Chris) Scheindel. They lived initially in Glen Gardner, N.J. later moving to Randolph Center, with their young family in 1971. In addition to raising her four children, Pat worked as the vice president of Ultramotive Corporation, the specialty packaging and filling company that Chris founded. Pat was also very active in the community, most notably as a leader in the UVM Extension Service at the local and state level as well as founding member and long-time board member of the White River Co-op. Among her many volunteer activities she was also an active member of the Democratic Party, as well as a supporter of Vermont Public Radio, and Vermont Pubic Television. Pat was an avid reader and gardener and was known for her keen wit and love of learning. She also felt strongly about social causes and particularly the rights of animals. Pat is survived by her husband, Chris; her four children, Christina, Stephen, Elizabeth and Sally; and five beloved grandchildren.
